Payne is dedicated to advancing the rights of the LGBTQ+ community through legal advocacy. Payne represents and advises the LGBTQ+ community regarding issues surrounding transition, discrimination, harassment, pronoun use, healthcare, restroom access, and accommodations.

Areas of Practice include but are not limited to:

  • Discrimination by Public Accommodations (restaurants, hotels, movie theaters)

  • Employment discrimination and harassment

  • Denial of equal employment benefits, including healthcare benefits for transition related healthcare

  • Healthcare discrimination, including treatment and insurance coverage for transition related healthcare

  • Housing discrimination

  • Limiting the scope of free speech and religious defenses to LGBTQ+ discrimination
